Skeleton Keys

I have been collecting vintage skeleton keys lately. I have been fascinated with them since I was young. I actually remember the doors to our home locked with these. That was a long time ago! I've been making necklaces with these keys. This one has a little czech skull bead and a Green Girl Studios bezel that I have put some moss gathered from a forest in Oregon (my last vacation with Greg) and a pressed wildflower from Kansas and then filled it with resin................... also had to add a picture of Jake enjoying the Fall weather. (my little sweetie)

I love skeleton keys, too! You've made a beautiful necklace, and Jake is so cute! Our house has the type of locks that lock with skeleton keys, but I'm afraid the keys must have been lost long ago. The crystal doorknobs and keyholes are nice to look at, though.

Thank you Angela and Fala......... Jake is just such a sweet natured boy. He is always happy and I love that about him... Fala, the skeleton keys actually opened the doors to the main doors in the house (in/out). I remember when my dad changed them to real locks!

I love old keys too! I have a little collection of them that came from an old inn around here, haven't figured out what to do with them yet! :)

Those are beautiful. Keys are such an interesting symbol in our psyches, aren't they? My brother once told me (many years after the fact) that when he was a child he had been digging in the backyard and dig up a box with an old key inside of it. He became very scared and put the box back, covering it with dirt. He didn't tell anyone until he was grown.

Edera, I know you will make or do something wonderful with them. You have such talent!.... Crystal, I truly believe that. I think that we really pick up on things as children..... Missy Medieval, thank you as always!
