The Rock

I have had this rock just about my whole life. It has traveled with me to all of my homes. It IS my favorite rock. I remember finding it when I was about 4 or five years old on a walk with my Mom. She would always take me out and we would spend the day walking in the woods or fields around our home and I would always come home with handfuls of sticks, stones, acorns, feathers and other things. I haven't changed in 50 years!

That is amazing. I haven't kept anything but ideas for that long. Wow.

I have a few things that I have cherished over the years and can remember the day that I got them like it was yesterday...... I'll have to post a few more.

I love collecting stones from all the places I have travelled to.Luckily I am not a constant world traveller so I only have a few stones rather than a sack! They hold the memory of that place for me.My Mum does it too and puts them in her rockery along with her other garden treasures. all the best to you

Angela, I am just like you! I have rocks in my garden from places that have meant something to me. My husband got used to it and started helping me by carting stuff back to the truck for me and he would just laugh!

That's a wonderful rock!! I'm the same way -- my car dashboard is covered with acorns and leaves, and I have a jar full of feather in the house!

I just got back fro my trip to a wonderful, wonderful gift from you -- I can't thank you enough!! You are so sweet to think of me and I adore everything you sent. I'm sorry I'm thanking you as a comment in your blog, but I've lost my email contact list, so if you could email me so I can write it down again, that would be great! You can email me at falacedar@gmail.com

Thank you so much, dear-heart! :)

That is a fantastic rock - never have I seen one like it and I wonder if it could be a fossilized shell/pod of some sort?

It's like the perfect little vessel! I used to love to find rocks on my grandparent's farm. They had some big quartz geodes in their long long rock/gravel driveway, and occasionally we would find fossils in the creek near their house.

I have rocks that I've collected from Leven Beach in East Fife Scotland. I lived there for a few years with my Husband and two dogs, Milo a Jack Russel & Hamish, a long haired Chihuahua. I have carried them everywhere with me since. My Husband passed away from complications due to MS and I am back in The Us now. My rocks are part of Scotland that no one can every take away from me.

Your blog is lovely

Awww, thanks Patty. I am so sorry for your loss. I guess that we have that ache in our hearts in common. I have collected rocks forever and they are full of memories. I bet that Scotland must have been gorgeous! Welcome back to the States and hugs for you.
